Our Ruminant Sheep
Sheep also are a new addition to the farm in 2021. As Corvus expands to a fully pastured rotation, the need for a ruminant to help mow down the field grasses in preparation for poultry is essential. In March, I was put in touch with a lovely couple who sadly had to give up their sheep flock. The final 8 were a personal flock of hair sheep: Dorper and Katahdin. Being a hair sheep means no need for shearing. They shed their coats in the spring, which is a huge time and cost savings.
The flock is all between 1 and 3 years of age, so just entering its breeding prime. As with pigs, Corvus offers whole or half animals for pick up from the farm or delivery to your local meat processor.
